Novel Announcement | Dominate Me: Beta by Eve Healy

This is a boys’ love novel set in the omegaverse.

Despite being the son of a dominant omega and a recessive alpha, Casey never manifested as either an omega or alpha, which leaves him as a beta. Betas are the dominating secondary sex, but having grown up among his parents and the Cade family, all of which are made up of alphas and omegas, he can’t help but feel utterly alone in the world. After the Cade family moves away, separating him from his crush, the eldest son and alpha of the Cade family, Levi, Casey tries to take advantage and move on from his old first love and his own feelings of inadequacies.

Years pass, but Casey still can’t seem to put out the torch he carries for the little alpha he fell in love with as a child. Much to his surprise, he ends up running into Levi, and he’s all the dominant alpha that Casey knew he would be. To his surprise, though, he also runs into the second son, third child, and first dominant omega child of the Cade family: Gabriel. Even more surprising, Gabriel’s childhood crush on Casey hasn’t waned in the least.

Stuck between the one he wants but can’t have and the one who wants him, Casey has to make a decision. Will he finally let go of Levi and make his own happiness? Or will he never be able to let go of the reliable alpha from his childhood, even if it means heartbreak?

He’s at the end of his rope when he sees Hyesung smoking out of the window of that very apartment. Seung-chan can hardly believe it and screams to stop him, only to find that Hyesung was just playing around and didn’t intend to throw himself out like that. Naturally, Seung-chan is neither impressed nor does he find this display funny. Even so, he can’t help being intrigued by his mysterious upstairs neighbor. However, this intrigue becomes more of an obsession as Seung-chan runs into Hyesung only to find him battered and bruised. Seung-chan desperately wants to say Hyesung, but how can he save a man who doesn’t want to be saved?

Though he’s spoiled for choice, Dong-gyun only has eyes for one specific camboy named BJ Alex. Alex is muscular, lusty, and kind in his streams, and he wears a mask, which adds an air of mystique to the already perfect package. Dong-Gyun loves Alex so much that he even gets a part-time job to send him tips. Though Dong-Gyun dreams of someday meeting Alex in real life, he knows that’s only a dream, and he’s happy just to be able to see him every day on his stream.

One evening, Dong-Gyun goes out to drink with his department and ends up absolutely wasted. His sunbae, Jiwon, offers to help take him home. While bringing a drunken Dong-Gyun home, Jiwon ends up covered in puke. So, while at Dong-Gyun’s house, Jiwon cleans himself up and even helps clean up his drunken hoobae. Eventually, Dong-Gyun sobers up enough to realize where he is and sees Jiwon half-naked.

The first thing he notices is the substantial birthmark on Jiwon’s side, the same exact birthmark on Alex. When he tells Jiwon that he knows he’s Alex, he realizes the mask he wears on stream isn’t the only mask. Will Dong-Gyun be able to love Jiwon despite the fact he isn’t anything like the Alex he’s known on stream? And will Jiwon be able to keep a safe distance from Dong-Gyun, so neither of them falls in love with the other?

Mochizuki and Ishio have a lot in common. They are both captains of their respective martial arts teams, have secondary sexes, and hate each other. Mochizuki is an omega, and Ishio is an alpha, but they aren’t drawn to each other. The only reason they interact at all is that they are forced to share a dojo, which results in numerous skirmishes between the teams. To assert their dominance, the two captains spend much of their time trying to embarrass or fight each other, with little to no success.

One day, while Mochizuki changes in the dojo, Ishio walks in on him. It is then that Mochizuki notices how shy and nervous Ishio gets around him when it comes to anything remotely sexual or affectionate. With this new insight, Mochizuki changes his method of harassing Ishio, which entails hugging, cuddling, and all but sexually assaulting him. Naturally, Mochizuki is beyond pleased with this development until Ishio makes it clear:

If Mochizuki isn’t careful, Ishio might just mark him as his.

Jaehee has been having some stimulating dreams, to say the least, starring her very own boss Mr. Seo. Of course, that wouldn’t be so bad if those dreams weren’t making it near impossible to act normally at work and do her job well. What makes matters worse is that it seems like Mr. Seo is more than happy to make Jaehee’s dreams a reality. Unfortunately, Jaehee knows just what can happen when you mix business with pleasure. But for some reason, no matter how she tries to distance herself, she just gets pulled right back in.

It’s almost like he’s got this supernatural power to draw her in, but that isn’t humanly possible… unless Mr. Seo is more than a human.

Novel Review | University of the Underworld by Ziloi

Title: University of the Underworld
Author: Ziloi

Our main character is a new ghost. He doesn’t remember how or when he died, nor does he remember who he even is, so he spends the first moments of his new ghostly life simply waiting where he wakes up. For what? For the ghostly guards, of course, that will help guide him to the underworld. No matter how long he waits, though, there is no sign of any guards of any kind to come and help. So, on a whim, the ghostling decides that if he isn’t destined to go to the underworld, he’ll become a malevolent spirit. Unfortunately, his first target is none other than Bai Shaonan, a ghost and a powerful one at that.

The little ghostling’s antics do not amuse Bai Shaonan, and he’s compelled to destroy the new ghost and move along with his undead life. However, there is something about the little ghost that Shaonan just won’t seem to let him do it, especially when he finds out the little guy wants to become a malevolent spirit and has no clue who he is. So, looking around, Shaonan picks a random name: Cui Yue. Then, he takes little Cui Yue under his wing and back to the underworld, specifically the university where Shaonan is actually a dean.

Cui Yue starts his life as an underworld college student, but it’s not all fun and games. Cui Yue isn’t a very good student, but he’s trying to best, and his grades are the least of his worries when he realizes that Shaonan’s interest may not end at mere scholarly interest. But beyond school and romantic troubles, there is an underworld to the underworld that is working to destroy both Cui Yue and Bai Shaonan for eternity.
